WATER IS LIFE

Women’s Watershed Retreat

October 23-25, 2026
Teal Lake, Hayward, Wisconsin

A restorative weekend for women working with water - to deepen relationship, expand knowledge, work through real watershed challenges, and build the connections needed to protect and restore our waters.

COME TO THE WATER

This is a gathering for women who care for water - in your work, your communities, your lands, and your lives.

Bring the watershed challenge you’re working through. Bring the idea that needs space. Bring the question you haven’t had time to sit with.

Over one restorative weekend, we’ll step away from the urgency of our everyday work and come together to listen, map, learn, strategize, and reconnect.

We’ll explore our personal and community water stories, deepen our understanding of our watersheds, work through real challenges together, and leave with practical tools, new allies, and renewed clarity for the work ahead.

You do not need to be a water professional to attend. You simply need a desire to deepen your relationship with water and contribute to healthier watersheds.

A WEEKEND OF WATER + CONNECTION

Know Your Water
Explore your watershed through story, observation, mapping, testing, history, ecology, and multiple ways of knowing.

Map What Matters
Use our Watershed Sovereignty Mapping process to identify the waters, relationships, assets, threats, challenges, and opportunities shaping your place.

Work Through Real Challenges
Bring something you are actively navigating. The group becomes a space for ideas, perspective, allies, and possibility.

Taste + Experience Water
Saturday Water Happy Hour invites us to slow down and actually taste, compare, notice, and experience different waters.

Be on the Water
Time is intentionally left open for canoeing, kayaking, walking, resting, conversation, and simply being beside Teal Lake.

Leave With Tools
Take home your Water Workbook, mapping practices, water assessment tools, and a clearer next step for your watershed.

WATER CONNECTS US.

THIS GATHERING IS FOR YOU IF…

You protect, restore, study, teach about, organize around, advocate for, or simply deeply care about water.

You might be a watershed professional, farmer, land steward, community organizer, Indigenous knowledge holder, educator, nonprofit leader, conservationist, parent, artist, healer, scientist - or someone beginning to ask deeper questions about the water where you live.

Come with expertise. Come with questions. Come with a problem you're working through. Come because water is calling you into deeper relationship.

The problems facing our waters are enormous.
We don't have to meet them alone.

Come spend a weekend beside the water - learning, listening, mapping, resting, and imagining what becomes possible when women working for water come together.
